Day 3 Olbia - La Maddalena - Olbia

Today, join a full-day excursion to Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast), a stretch of land along the northeast coast of Sardinia, Italy. The Costa Smeralda is synonymous with dream-like beaches, isolated coves and inlets, and gently-changing shades of blue and green sea. This extraordinary region is dotted with Mediterranean vegetation, numerous villas, golf courses, tourist ports and homes hidden behind rocks shaped by the wind in perfect harmony with the environment.

Drive to Palau on an approximately 100-km travel day, where you will board a boat cruise to La Maddalena archipelago National Park formed by around 60 islets in the northeast of Sardinia. The guided boat excursions include 4 stops: the island of Spargi, the island of Budelli, the island of Santa Maria and La Maddalena.

The journey begins by passing in front of the beautiful villas of Porto Rafael and arrives after only 15 minutes at the beautiful Cala Corsara on the island of Spargi. Here, after photographing the impressive rocks sculpted by the wind and the sea (Testa di Strega, Cane Bulldog and Stivale d’Italia), you can relax on the beach for an hour and thirty minutes. Once on board taste a delicious “spaghettata” lunch on board. Then we set off again and reach the delightful coves of Spargi (Cala Soraya, Cala Granara and Cala Connari).

Before arriving at the destination of our second stage, Budelli Island, you will have the opportunity to admire the tall white limestone cliffs of nearby Corsica that bring out the colours of the landscape. Once on Budelli, you will be enchanted by the extraordinary beauty of the Spiaggia Rosa and the Spiaggia dei Cavalieri, where Budelli’s natural pools are located. Here you can immerse yourself in a real natural paradise, where the sky-blue hues of the ocean appear to reflect the sky.

The next stage around the island of Santa Maria is dedicated to diving and snorkelling enthusiasts. This location is among the most popular for visitors to Sardinia because of its crystal-clear sea and the richness and particular nature of its flora and fauna. You cannot imagine the thrill of swimming among shoals of saddled bream and sargo. On the way back, we get to the final part of the most celebrated and frequented destination in the archipelago.

What could be better than ending a fantastic day on the beach with a walk around the historic centre of the only town in the whole archipelago? La Maddalena is well known for its picturesque alleys and stairways that do not seem to have suffered during the passage of time while the centre of the town is also full of craft shops and boutiques for shopping, an excellent opportunity for those who want to take back memories of the trip, buy local products or enjoy a delicious homemade ice cream. The return journey includes sailing to the port of Palau, passing in front of the island of Santo Stefano, part of the island of Caprera and arriving at the famous Roccia d’Orso. Between one stage and the other during the trip, the commander will tell you about the history of the Archipelago and some of the most curious anecdotes.

Please note:
• In case of bad weather conditions, the boat trip among the different Islands will not take place, on the way back to Olbia, stop at Porto Cervo, a small and charming village by the sea, an architectural gem amid an area of natural beauty. In the summer it welcomes an extraordinary procession of hundreds of yachts and famous personalities; it is quite likely that you may find yourself in the square, shopping side-by-side with film or television stars. In the evening return back to your hotel in Olbia.
• The captain may change the route due to weather conditions, or according to changes imposed by the Marine Park Management. *In case of bad weather conditions, the ferry will go directly to La Maddalena, with a walking tour and lunch included.

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however, they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined.

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when particularly required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.

FLIGHTS
Seat Selection & Frequent Flyer Points
At TripADeal we do not arrange seat selection. It is important to highlight that some Airlines do not allow pre-selected seats. We strongly suggest you contact the Airline directly with seating allocation requirements and or arrive at the airport earlier to arrange your seating. While we do not add frequent flyer member details to bookings, you can do this directly with the Airline once you have your flight information.

Passport Validity
Customers are required to provide valid passport details either at the time of purchase or no later than 45 days prior to the departure date. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the booking. In this instance, customers will be responsible for any costs and fees incurred.

COACH TOUR
Meals
18 Meals are included in the tour, for all other meals; lunches and dinners the tour leader (when available) will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. It is your responsibility to notify TripADeal of any dietary requests/requirements.
Please note: We will do our best to meet your requests/requirements, however, cannot guarantee that we will always be able to.

The recommended tip is €5 Euro per person per day this covers the guide/leader and the driver, which will be collected whilst on tour. Tipping for all services provided on tour is always a matter of personal discretion, however please be aware that tipping is considered by many locals to be a part of their normal remuneration and they may approach you for payment and there is no need to be intimidated by the request.

Shopping
Shopping overseas can be a daunting and confusing experience, especially when there is a language barrier. Please be very cautious when foreign currencies and prices are involved. If paying by credit card, please pay close attention to the amount you are being charged and keep all of your receipts. Do not make any purchases you are not comfortable with or feel pressured into. If you are uncertain or need assistance with the language barrier, please seek assistance from your Tour Guide/Leader. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions in regards to shopping for further information.

Visas

A tourist visa is not required for Europe for stays up to 90 days if travelling on an Australian or New Zealand passport.

Important:
Visa rules may have changed since COVID-19. Check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination you're entering.

Please note: Passengers who are not Australian or New Zealand citizens must check with the respective consulate or visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required. It is also important to note, some areas of employment such as journalism, government authorities and charity organisations may have additional restrictions in applying for Visas. This may in turn affect the type of application required.

Travel insurance

Embarking on your next trip is exciting, and while you hope the unexpected does not happen, it is best to be prepared. We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance when making your booking. Whether it’s a potential medical emergency, a flight cancellation, a delayed suitcase, or an unforeseen event, it's important to ensure you're adequately protected.
