Today is your day to relish at your own pace. Delight in the sights of The May Square, or Plaza de Mayo, a pivotal and iconic square in Buenos Aires, situated just behind the Pink House. It's a must-visit, as most images of the Pink House originate from this vantage point. Take a leisurely stroll down Avenue 9th of July, known as Avenida 9 de Julio in Spanish, celebrated as one of Buenos Aires' primary thoroughfares and renowned as the widest avenue globally. 9 de Julio Avenue offers access to numerous significant landmarks in Buenos Aires, including the iconic Obelisk, the bustling Corrientes Avenue, and the prestigious Colón Theater. Wander through La Boca, a destination firmly etched on the bucket lists of many Buenos Aires enthusiasts. Here, you'll encounter the legendary vividly painted houses and the picturesque corner dwelling, El Caminito, both recognized as iconic landmarks of the city.

Optional Activity : Personalities of Buenos Aires: Evita and Borges - $320 per person
As happens in major cities that stand out in the world for its prolific activity (cultural, artistic, scientific or political), Buenos Aires has several people who became internationally famous people, to become icons. In this tour you will be able to learn about the life of two of the most influential people in the history of Argentina: Eva Duarte de Perón, former first lady of the Republic and an advocate on behalf the labour and women rights; and Jorge Luis Borges, writer, essayist, poet and translator, and a key figure in Spanish-language literature.

You will travel through Avenida 9 de Julio and Recoleta neighbourhood and hear the story of Eva Peron's life. After this introduction, you will arrive at the Recoleta cemetery and enjoy a 30 minute walking tour through the cemetery. The guided visit will lead you to the mausoleums of the main historic characters of Argentine history such as Marcelo T. de Alvear, president from 1922 to 1928, and Raul Alfonsin, the first Argentine president democratically elected in 1983 following the military government. You will also see the mausoleum of Evita and her family.

Then you will discover the heart of Palermo that combines a bohemian atmosphere with the forefront of design and Palermo Hollywood that stands out for its film studios, television production companies and radios. In this neighbourhood it will be highlighted, the life and work of the writer Jorge Luis Borges, where he spent his childhood and where he wrote his most famous novels. The tour finishes with the visit of the Evita Museum, at which you will be able to gain a deeper understanding of the life and work of one of the most important women in Argentina. This is the perfect tour for those seeking to learn more about an important era of Argentine history combined with an afternoon of sightseeing.

Day 14 Buenos Aires

Today, continue your exploration of this vibrant and passionate city at your own leisurely pace. Begin by admiring Floralis Genérica, an imposing metal flower sculpture nestled in the Recoleta neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. This magnificent artwork gracefully opens during the day and gracefully closes at night. On sunny days, it casts enchanting reflections in the shimmering water pool beneath its petals.

Make your way to Puerto Madero, a transformed district situated within the historic harbour of Buenos Aires. Today, it stands as a chic and upscale enclave, boasting a plethora of restaurants, cafes, corporate headquarters, and impressive skyscrapers. While in Buenos Aires, a visit to one of the city's most significant landmarks is a must: Puente de la Mujer, also known as the Woman's Bridge. This striking architectural marvel spans the heart of Puerto Madero, and the best part is, it's free to explore and cross.

Venture into the charming neighbourhood of San Telmo, the oldest in Buenos Aires, where you'll encounter a treasure trove of beautiful old buildings and traditional coffee shops and bars. This historic neighbourhood extends from Plaza de Mayo, branching out to the right of this central square. With each step, you'll delve deeper into the city's rich cultural tapestry. Enjoy your day of discovery!

Optional Activity : Tigre and Delta Tour - $415 per person
Enter a world that has changed very little since the 1920s with a tour to Tigre, the locals’ favourite weekend getaway destination. Leave Buenos Aires behind driving along the grand Avenida del Libertador, the most beautiful access road to the downtown city, and pass through suburban neighbourhoods characterised by their calm atmosphere, luxury homes and yacht clubs. On our way to Tigre, you’ll stop at San Isidro to visit the cathedral and main plaza, before arriving at your destination.

A maze of rivers and channels making up the Paraná Delta, Tigre still retains its traditional air with beautiful riverside villas, Victorian docks, English gardens and even traditional rowing and boating clubs. Explore the labyrinth of channels and streams with a boat tour that takes you to its most picturesque natural spots, and enjoy a morning in a holiday town suspended in the 1920s.

Optional Activity: Dinner & Tango show "El Viejo Almacen" - $210 per person
Located in the historic centre of this bustling metropolis on the corner of Balcarce and Independencia – the very corner where tango was born – lies El Viejo Almacen, the most authentic venue in the city. Its current structure dating back to 1969, El Viejo Almacén (‘the Old Storehouse’) has become synonymous with tango and its fame has spread all over the world. It has been designated as a ‘Place of Cultural Interest’ by the local authority and no wonder, given its centrality to tango lore and legend.

The show itself has all the colour and passion you would expect from this quintessentially Argentine art form, so be prepared to be transported back in time and taken on a magnificent dance adventure. Singers and a popular group of indigenous musicians complete the bill. The warm and welcoming atmosphere of the venue, combined with the commitment of the professional performers, ensures that this is a night of entertainment that will stay in the memory for many years to come.

Other important information

TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide:
Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on the history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction where they are guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves it at the end of the tour; they do not travel with the group.

Tour Leader:
An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides at each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village and offer information on the place visited on the bus. However, they are not required to have specific art, architecture, or historical knowledge. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and, if caught doing so, can be fined.

Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.
